Bedroom Inspiration : Oh Deer!

When redecorating our new house, we chose to to do very neutral colors so it would be appealing to lots of buyers should we decide to up and move back to America.

For this reason, I am loving the bedroom of Nikole Herriot, as featured on design*sponge.  So much, in fact, that we chose to  paint a chocolatey brown feature wall in our bedroom.

I think what really gets me are the antlers.  Wouldn't they be perfect for hanging necklaces?  Remember how I desperately wanted to buy a head, but Nick put his foot down?  Well I think since antlers are a little tamer version of that, maybe I could get away with it.... maybe...?  (If you're inclined I would appreciate you leaving comments on how classy and fabulous antlers are for Nick to read.  Comments on how he should give me free reign in the decorating department are also appreciated.)

Though I would have to find a vegetarian friendly antler option.  Any tip offs?  I know I saw wood carved ones online but I can't seem to rediscover them.  Oh and while I'm on the deer kick, isn't this duvet cover the coolest? (brought to my attention by Krystal of Village)  I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get away with this though.  Maybe it's a bit of deer over kill (pun intended - yes, I think I'm funny), but I LOVE it!
I think it would be the perfect combination of chic hillbilly.
Whats not to love?

Well thats the decoration inspiration for now.  If any one else has neutral bedroom inspiration please share it with me!  I am having the hardest time deciding on a color to paint our guest bedroom which has a weird blue/grey carpet.

Other than that we are trying desperately to get everything in a live-able state, but we are having trouble coordinating trades people.  Very frustrating!

  1. Yes. Move back here. I say you do everything in RED, WHITE & BLUE. That'll totally up the resale value.

Check out west elm. I heart west elm.

  3. even if I am not into deers, the bedroom pictures are awesome. I think what does it for me are the colors. I love the dark wall with the rest white and then pastel colors! And those duvet covers are indeed gorgeous, I saw them too on the Village, Krystal is great!

PS: Thanks for the words of wisdom to help me pcik between the nail polishes but guess what? MAC does not ship outside US and Canada! So if I really want them I can always have them shipped to Montreal and ask a friend to ship it back to me!

  7. How about a dark grey on the wall in the guest bedroom. I know you said the carpet was blue/grey, but dark grey looks amazing on the wall - especially if you can do white trim or a white door. Then warm white bedding - very sleek and clean could work. A little helpful?

  8. I actually think the dark grey can work. I painted my bf's bedroom (he rents) a very dark grey and then all the trim a warm white (including the door). We put his bed against a bare wall with nothing above it, dressed the bed in dark grey sheets a shade lighter than the wall but a white duvet cover over top. To add interest I added pillows that were grey (the standard pillow cases), piled on some grey and cream big velvet ones, and one longer grey tweed one. When his landlord stopped by she shrieked with joy and said she had no intention on repainting after he left! And she was the epitome of everything must be monochromatic to appeal to the masses!!

I hope that helps. We don't have a ton of money so we shop and shop and shop for deals, but the paint is one way to make an impact without getting crazy with orange or whatever. If you can do a white trim I think you can go with grey - it is a surprisingly warm and cozy tone if it has even the slightest hint of a brown undertone. Let me know what you decide...so exciting!!

  9. Nice inspiration!!!
YEah I think grey's a pretty safe colour to go with..except gotta remember there's blue-y grays and yellow-y grays and man oh man can they be different! hehe (seriously though) :o)
Also I love that you're looking for wood carved antlers , so much better than the real thing! I looked around a little now, just to see if I could find anything for ya, but they're pricey! :oS
Good luck though I'm sure you'll find something great...I'll keep an eye out!

  13. Such great inspiration. I'm liking the antler idea (especially hanging necklaces off them). Although real ones would probably freak me out. If you get a hold of some fake ones, I'd love to know!
