Counter Top Crusades

We have a problem.  Heidi can now get her nose over the top of the counter.  This picture doesn't really do it justice.  She's just tall enough that if we leave anything by the edge she can get a hold of it.

We've taught her the "Off" command and she is good at listening.  The problem is, she sits on the floor and looks at you like this....

Treat please?

Then within 10 seconds she is back jumping up on the counter.  The biggest problem is soon she'll be able to reach the stove top.  And soon she'll have a very crispy nose... Tips please?

  1. Maybe tell her to go over and lay down in some spot !!

  2. HAHA that is so cute. my dog also has a hearbreaking puppy dog face when he wants something. we just endured 15 minutes of him flinging an empty pop bottle around the apt (hard wood floors) because he looked so cute when he wanted it :)
so, my advice is...is he kind of wimp like my dog? like, my dog gets scared at loud noises - so when he was a puppy and we didn't want him doing something - we'd make a really loud noice when he went for it so that he'd associate the two - and it worked!

  3. I don't have a lot of Dog Training Knowledge, I'm afraid. But... I do think that once her nose is burnt, she'll learn never to do it again. At least that's what children do when they accidentally bump in to electric heaters (or so I've been told).
She is seriously super cute, though. Your heart would melt a thousand times a day with those eyes fixated on you!
Loved your photos from the market. It's been a while since I stopped by your blog, I'll link you so I remember to pop by from now on:)
